  1. Hello:

After the shootings/murders in Red River, what is Las Vegas, NM going to do about its motorcycle rally?

I have a few suggestions, the main one being cancel this event.

    In the alternative:

    enforce a curfew,
stringently enforce noise and nuisance ordinances,
    close bars by 8 PM
bring in more police from Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

Just the prospect of this event is terrifying.
    Thank you.

  2. Thank you for reaching out with your concerns. We, the committee members of the Rough Rider Motorcycle Rally Inc., understand the recent safety concerns due to the tragic events that occurred during the Red River Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

As of today, the Rough Rider Motorcycle Rally has not been cancelled. It will be held July 28th thru July 30th. We are working collaboratively with the City of Las Vegas as well as local law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of our citizens and visitors.

While there is the fear of community violence in any event setting, we are always concerned of hosting a safe event. We do not promote/sell alcohol or drug paraphernalia, we have law enforcement presence on site, security is hired during nighttime hours to ensure our vendors are secure as well as other measures we take to ensure the safety of others.

We will continue to strive to provide a safe and enjoyable event while collaborating with local entities. Should anything change, we will inform the public in a timely manner.

As always, thank you for supporting the Rough Rider Motorcycle Rally in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

    Regards,

    Veronica V

  3. In light of the events that transpired in Red River 2023, I’m so tired of people being so quick to want this event in Las Vegas NM canceled. There is so much good this rally brings to the community and further. Revenue being the main contribution. Im sure every rally I’ve been to has had significantly more enthusiasts than 1% motorcycle clubs. Setting curfews and such only hinder the law abiding people. Do you honestly think the 1% really care about a curfew. Also noise ordnance, come on do you want to keep law enforcement occupied with checking the decibel level everyone including those not participating in the rally or is it just targeting Motorcycle enthusiasts. Anyhow I have a lot of family in Las Vegas NM and this rally giveme and my family in Colorado a nice get away there with good music and delicious food as well as visiting with all my family and friends at the plaza with all the vendors selling thier goods. PLEASE DONT CANCEL A GOOD AND POSITIVE THING. DONT LET THE 1% CONTROL OUR FREEDOM AND LIVES .
